HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST CLASS:

HYDRATE

Not only water, but electrolytes will keep you going strong. Signs of dehydration include headache and nausea. Just take it easy your first time, and remember to come to class on an empty stomach (2 to 3 hours).

BE COURTEOUS

Be clean, quiet, and respectful to others. Yoga practice is as much about how you treat others as it is about how you care for yourself.

ARRIVE ON TIME

Plan to be at the studio 15 minutes before class to register and settle in. Bring a yoga mat, two towels and a big bottle of water with you. Wear comfortable workout clothes and prepare to sweat a lot; the room is heated to 105F.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

For your first class, it is a victory to simply stay in the heated room for the entire class. Feel free to sit down or skip a posture or two as your goal is simply to breathe normally. You'll see improvement over time.

FOCUS & CONCENTRATE

Be as still as possible between poses. Hatha yoga is a disciplined practice in concentration. It is as much a mental exercise as it is physical, creating a true mind and body connection.

Why Bikram Method?

Mardy and Jeff have been practicing the Original Hot Yoga continuously since 1999. The more they practiced and taught the same, precise 26 posture sequence, the more they have been inspired by student testimonials describing the myriad of benefits they receive, including:

This disciplined system of beginner’s hatha yoga has worked so well for people for so many years.

PURE Yoga Texas has served up the Original Hot Yoga since 2003, building a thriving community of teachers and practitioners who truly understand the benefits this unique, therapeutic system of hatha yoga brings to the body and mind.

The average teaching experience of PURE’s teaching staff is well over six years. We continually hone our teaching skills through workshops and practical classroom experience, working with students of all ages and health conditions. We practice intermediate and advanced level classes to further deepen our practice and understanding of the Original Hot Yoga class. Our collective approach to sharing knowledge with each other is what helps us build an exceptional group of teachers who will guide you to be your best!

Mardy and Jeff studied and brought back the principles of yoga therapy from the Ghosh Yoga College (Calcutta, India), the original school where Bikram and Rajashree learned from Bishnu Ghosh and his son, Biswanath Ghosh. The month-long residential training reinforced the authenticity, simplicity, and effectiveness of the Bikram style 26 posture sequence, suitable for anyone, at any age and any condition.
