In his return to Austin, Leslie will focus on some of the most unique aspects of his teacher Desikachar’s philosophy and technique, while grounding these ancient perspectives in a practical, anatomical, framework.

Leslie’s highly accessible, inquiry-based approach to teaching combines intellectual rigor, spontaneity and humor, and is always evolving and adapting, based on the interests and questions of the participants in his programs.

February 24

12-2:30p - DESIKACHAR'S REVOLUTION: Vinyasa, Breath and Bandha

The individualized, breath-centered yoga practice of T.K.V. Desikachar exhibits many distinctive principles and practices not found in other yoga lineages. In this highly interactive experiential workshop, Leslie will focus on his teacher's techniques that emphasize the coordination of breath with movement and spinal action.

These teachings will be presented from an anatomical as well as an energetic perspective, while leaving ample space for inquiry and exploration. Additionally, Leslie will share rare video footage of his teacher speaking about some of the principles covered in this session.

3:30-6p - RE-IMAGINING ALIGNMENT: Technique and Inquiry in Asana Practice

This workshop relies on students to bring questions about their own asana practice and teaching language to an atmosphere of inquiry regarding the topics of alignment, safety and effective cueing of asana.

Starting with clear, simple principles that govern musculoskeletal function, Leslie will assist participants in putting their asana practice on a solid foundation literally from the ground up. Topics include:

• The foundational importance of the base of support for every asana

• Finding support by awakening the pathways of weight through the foot

• The relationship of breath action to support and movement

• Technique and inquiry as the sthira and sukha of a teaching environment

February 25

12-2:30p - THE SPINE IN MOTION: Asana from the Inside Out - SOLD OUT!

Unfortunately, some of the most common alignment instructions that are given for spinal movement in asana practice do not produce evenly distributed articulation, which may result in a perpetuation of chronic tightness in the very areas we seek to release.

This workshop will provide a solid grounding in strategies for healthy spinal range of motion from both an anatomical and a yogic perspective. We will practice a variety of breath-based movements and alignment strategies that will encourage us to explore spinal movement in a variety of creative ways.

This session is currently SOLD OUT! Contact us for availability!

3:30-6p - SHUSHUMNA NADI IN THEORY AND PRACTICE – The Core of Krishnamacharya’s Yoga

T. Krishnamacharya’s unique perspective on the concepts of prana, apana, shushumna and kundalini is quite literally the central pillar of his approach to breath-centered yoga. In this session, Leslie will present these concepts from an energetic, anatomical, historical and – most of all – practical perspective.

This workshop will employ an inquiry-based, breath-centered practice that builds towards a unique experience of breath movement in the “central channel," which can arise when our interoceptive focus aligns with a state of postural and metabolic peacefulness.

Please note: no refunds will be issued for special events/classes. Thank you for your understanding!
