Lauren Coheley Spain, PhD, RDN, LD, CDE, FAND, E-RYT 500
Dr. Spain was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a double DAWG having completed both her BSFCS in Dietetics and PhD in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Georgia. Dr. Spain completed her Dietetic Internship at Emory University Hospital and worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Emory University Hospital Midtown before obtaining her PhD. Currently, Dr. Spain serves as the Associate Department Head for Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Nutrition at Texas A&M University. In this role, Dr. Spain helps to develop and implement new programs to support student success. She also serves as a NextGen Scientist in the National Dairy Counsel’s NextGen Scientist program and is a graduate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Leadership Institute. Dr. Spain’s research focuses on the relationship between dietary patterns and protein on pediatric bone health and cognitive function.
Fun Fact: Dr. Spain is an advanced yoga teacher having obtained her 200 hours Registered Yoga Teacher Training in 2019 from Fuel Hot Yoga in Athens, GA, and her 300 hours in 2022 from Corepower Yoga.
